The Shadows Have Thinned, The Sins Are Mostly Forgiven (Prototype)

from (prototypes) by Dan Jacob Wallace

/

about

I was recording vocals for the song I'm supposed to be finishing, but started improvising and followed a detour that took me to this song. I don't know if it fully works, and not sure if I'll distribute more broadly, but I enjoy it and it carries some personal significance.

Note that it begins and ends with the same (but not-slowed-down) backing as "Hell Is A Bore (varispeed)," which is because the song I'm supposed to be finishing is the full version of that song (i.e., "Hell Is A Bore").

All the songs mentioned here, plus one called "Back of My Mind" (prototype coming very soon), as well as a couple others (coming later), are intimately connected.

lyrics

Wait, I know it's hard to stay
But I ask that you remain
I promise you I'll be-

The shadows have thinned
The sins are mostly forgiven
The shadows are still
Stiller than ever they have been
I know it's late again.... I know I'm late again

The shadows have thinned
The sins are mostly forgiven
The damage was fun
The cleanup has only just begun
I know it's late again.... I know I'm late again

Shadows are thin
Sins are mostly forgotten
Shadows are long
They cast beyond the burning sun
I know it's late again.... I know I'm late again

I know I'm, I know I'm, I know I'm, I know I'm

Wait! I know it's hard to stay
But I ask that you remain
I promise you I'll behave
Watcha' say? We won't play it their way
